Florida Sightseeing – A Few Must See Destinations

On a trip to Florida, there are a few destinations and attractions which cannot be missed. From Florida Keys to the Kennedy Space Centre, Florida is bustling with top attractions for you to visit.

The Sunshine State has plenty to offer, regardless of your taste. Whether it’s partying in Miami or discovering the Everglades, you can be sure to find something that will interest you. Of all the different activities and attractions on offer, one of the most popular is taking a trip to Key West.

Key West is an island located in the Straits of Florida and at the southern tip of Florida Keys. Around 4 miles make up the island in length and 2 miles in width, so although the island is not overly large, there is still plenty to see and do here.

Thanks to Florida’s year round amazing climate, one of the most popular things to do here is simply to head straight to the beach. From there you can either spend your time relaxing and taking in the sun or – if you prefer – take advantage of the different watersports and snorkeling activities on offer.

Another Island equally worth visiting whilst in Florida is Marco Island. Traditionally a retreat for the wealthy, this Gulf Coast paradise nestled among the Ten thousand Islands is a popular destination thanks mainly to its subtropical climate.

Gold, fishing, boating and watersports are among the most popular things to do, although a growing number of visitors are taking place in alternative sports such as walking, dolphin sightseeing and eco tours. Either way, you’re bound to find something to suit.

For museum fanatics, Florida has a number of options including The Salvador Dali Museum which is located in St. Petersburg and the Florida International Museum which contains the largest private collection of JFK memorabilia. Visitors can even experience a complete recreation of Kennedy’s version of the Oval Office.

Other popular museums include the Florida Holocaust Museum, one of the largest museums in the country and solely dedicated to helping visitors understand what happened during the holocaust period. Of course Florida’s own museum known as the State Museum of Florida is always worth a visit, boasting a fine collection of traditional and contemporary art masterpieces.

If museums aren’t your thing, then why not experience the sights and sounds of the Daytona International Speedway. Here – if you plan in advance – you can see the acclaimed Daytona 500, a popular race which takes place every year in summer as well as the Pepsi 400 NASCAR Winston Cup, which takes place every year in summer.

Wherever you decide to visit in Florida, you can be certain that there will be plenty to see and do and your holidays in Florida will be ones you won’t forget.
