Art Psychotherapy for Depression Online

by Giora Carmi

It seems that it is hard to deal with depression. Many people spend years in traditional therapy and yet find it hard to resolve so many related issues that show themselves in the process. Nevertheless there is a way that not many people know about to resolve mental suffering faster.

The source of most emotional and mental suffering is the blocking of your intuition. When you were young and this natural insight was alive, you were happy and playful. But circumstances somehow led you to decide to block your intuition. This blocking then became a subconscious habit.

Most people aren’t aware of the importance of intuition for being happy. Being intuitive is like being who you really are and knowing what you want to do with your life.

The decision to block what is natural to you, your intuition, happens when you feel threatened or experience too much suffering. For example, if you want to do something that your parents don’t allow you to do, you keep wanting it and they keep not allowing you to do it. Eventually you decide it isn’t worth it to keep trying over and over because they won’t let you do it anyway. As a child you are afraid to lose your parents support. Yet it’s a lot of suffering to want and not to receive. So at some point, you start to not listen to your intuition. The knowledge of what you truly want becomes less and less accessible to you.

And what a sad life it becomes. Without knowing what you want, how can you ever be happy? It is not surprising that people who had blocked their intuition now feel that their lives are meaningless. This is part of what depression is. Therapists have looked far and wide for its causes and solutions. The answer is closer and more natural than most think. The blocking of intuition creates depression and the unblocking of intuition eliminates it.

The use of art in therapy can be a powerful tool in the hands of those who truly understand it. Its ideal for the unblocking of intuition. You don’t need to be an artist at all. You simply use the tools of art. Once your intuition is freed, it becomes your guide to happiness. With the help of a good therapist you will know what your intuition is saying to you. Then, step by step, you will dissolve everything that stands in the way of your happiness. This process is much more direct and therefore faster than most other modes of therapy.

Blocked intuition brings about many secondary issues. For example: You may start to believe that you don’t deserve to be who you are and do what you want. You may believe that you are a bad person.

All these secondary issues complicate the standard process of therapy. You created these issues to compensate for lack of intuitive flow. And it is impossible to resolve them successfully so long as your intuition is blocked.

With the use of intuition in art therapy it is possible to bring the root cause to the surface right at the beginning of the therapy and dissolve it successfully. When we do this first, the anger and self punishment, along with many other possible secondary issues, become useless to the patient. They dissolve by themselves and there is no need to deal with them at all. This is how powerful intuitive art therapy is for depression.
